Slow Balboa

We are thrilled to be offering class in the beautiful style of Slow Balboa – however classes are taking a short break while our lead teacher Adam recovers from a knee operation. Check back in with us in early 2018 to find out when classes will resume!

Our regular resident teachers Richa and Adam have been studying and delving further into this wonderful niche dance for many years and are proud to be offering a beginner-intermediate pitched Slow Balboa class. Richa and Adam have learnt from some of the best in the business and bring to their classes over 10 years of teaching experience each.

Savoy Dance are thrilled to announce that we will be doing 2 classes to tailor to both new and experienced Slow Bal dancers. We will be having a 6.30pm Curious Turtles Class: this is an absolute beginner class which will be aimed at our students who have had no previous Balboa or Slow Balboa experience. In this class we will be breaking down the beautiful Slow Balboa basics from scratch at an achievable pace. And also we will have the chance to really nut our those little gems of technique that make Slow Balboa such a beautiful dance to do.

At 7.30pm will be the Adventurous Snails class this class will have assumed Balboa or Slow Balboa experience. Or if you have 2-3 years Lindy Hop experience, social dance and like being challenged than this class is for you too.  In this hour we will be breaking down more complex moves, technique and concepts. We explain the links back to Balboa and how we approach Slow Balboa, and we aim to provide you with a moves and technique tool box that allows you to start build your own Slow Balboa repertoire.

Unsure what Slow Balboa is? Check out what two of the world’s most renown Slow Balboa teachers say about it here and a clip of the amazing Mickey Fortanasce and Kelly Arsenault dancing this beautiful style.

No Balboa experience or partner is necessary to enjoy this beautiful dance- we will be teaching the Slow Balboa basic from scratch and throwing in some favourite moves each week. Come join in every week for for a slow beautiful shuffle!
