We are thrilled to be offering classes in the beautiful style of Balboa.
Commencing 7 May 2019, Savoy Dance is proud to offer two classes to cater for both new and experienced Balboa dancers.
Our resident teachers Di and Spud have learnt from some of the best in the business and bring to their classes over 30 years of combined dancing and 10 years of combined teaching experience. What an honour to learn from these talented teachers who have never taught together in Canberra.
6.30pm is a Curious Beginners Class: this is an absolute beginner session which will be aimed at students who haven’t had any previous Balboa experience. In this class we will be breaking down the Balboa basics from scratch at an achievable pace. Students will have the chance to really put into practice the little things that make Balboa such a wonderful dance to learn. Plus, we’ll throw in one of our favourite moves each week! Attending these classes will provide you with all the necessary tools to start dancing on the social dance floor. A partner or Balboa dancing experience is not required.
At 7.30pm will be the Adventurous Explorers class. This class is designed as a follow up to our Curious Beginners class. This session will assume our students have enough Balboa experience from our beginners’ class to feel comfortable with the dance. In this hour we will explore more Balboa fundamentals, taking the time to reinforce your foundations and build your repertoire. Attending this class will help build your fundamentals, dance confidently and at pace with anyone on the dancefloor.
If you have 2-3 years Lindy Hop experience in social dance and like being challenged, then come down for the Curious Beginners class for a few weeks, and then feel free to join in the Adventurous Explorers class.
Come join in every week for for a beautiful shuffle!
